Our customized psychotherapy services are designed to meet the unique needs of individuals, couples and families, who might otherwise be unable to access needed treatment. To date, we have utilized retreats, telephonic and video assisted sessions, as well as multiple-hour or day long sessions, to deliver our services.
Sometimes these services are requested based on time or geographic limitations; in other instances, they are related to a physical handicap that precludes the possibility of engaging in traditional, in-office psychotherapy. These services are also requested by individuals who desire an intensive psychotherapeutic experience, for the rapid relief of symptoms or quicker resolution of problems, than can sometimes be achieved through more traditional means.
While our customized psychotherapy services are appropriate for the treatment of many differenct issues and problems, they are particularly well suited for those experiencing grief and traumatic stress reactions.
In addition to these therapeutic offerings, we provide mediation services for those seeking a constructive forum for the establishment of legal agreements and for dispute resolution.

INTENSIVE COUNSELING RETREATS
Counseling retreats, of two to five days in duration, can result significant movement toward change. Retreats are organized in consultation with requesting families or groups, so that the geographical location is convenient for all participants and the choice of setting is one that is conducive to treatment.
From time to time, we also organize retreats that address specific issues or are designed for specific populations, such as grieving parents, military and civilians returning from combat zones, adult caretakers of aging parents, etc. Please watch this page and our Blog for announcements of these retreats.
Our family retreats can be especially appropriate for families who are grieving, for issues related to problematic child and adolescent behavior, for couples in crisis, and for families that lead
hectic lives and desire an intensive, focused experience without undue interruptions.
Follow-up to retreat work may be recommended, depending on your situation.
This may take the form of video conferences or additional work in the
retreat setting. Retreats can usually be arranged within two to three weeks of initial request.
PSYCHOTHERAPY FOR THOSE WITH SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES
You may be in the public eye. Or you may
have special security issues. Or you may have job responsibilities that
would make it difficult for you to feel comfortable receiving psychotherapy
services in a traditional office setting.
We will work with you, to choose a setting, location and schedule, that is appropriate for service and that meets the your specific needs. We will travel to accomodate
your schedule and geographic limitations, as necessary and possible.
Treatment also can be conducted via non-traditional means, such as through telephone or video conferencing. If services will be provided via electronic means, we reserve the right to request an in-person meeting at the initiation of service, as well as at critical junctures.
We also reserve the right to determine whether your situation can be effectively addressed via non-traditional service delivery. These services are most appropriate for those desiring to make behavioral, relationship or career changes that are non-life threatening in nature.
If you are experiencing symptoms or a situation that could result in a medical crisis or violent reaction, please contact emergency services and mental health providers in your locale.

MEDIATION SERVICES
As psychotherapists and counselors, we support the desire of individuals, couples and families to resolve differences and establish agreements, in the gentlest, least intrusive and most expedient ways possible.
Mediation represents such an approach to issues that have traditionally been decided by an arbitrator, a judge or a jury. In this confidential process, participating parties have the opportunity to fashion their own agreements and solutions, and present these to counsel for legal execution.
After the parties have consulted with their attorneys to acquaint themselves with any laws that govern the matters that will be considered in their negotiations, our trained mediators will establish a location and initial time frame, to begin the process.
Mental health professionals are uniquely suited for providing mediation services, as their clinical training includes preparation for the role of impartial facilitator. Mental health professionals are also skilled in assisting people to identify needs, communicate constructively and discover mutual interests upon which agreements can be based and disputes resolved.
The following are examples of typical requests that mediators that work with individuals, couples and families receive:
Establishment of cohabitation agreements or resolution of cohabitation disputes
Divorce agreements involving property or coparenting issues
Post-divorce disputes related to visitation with or custody of children.
Issues related to the care of an elder
Disputes between neighbors
Contract disputes related to goods and services
Disputes related to property ownership
Disputes related to wills
Studies have shown that mediated agreements and resolutions, which are designed by the individuals involved, have a higher likelihood of success than those imposed by third parties. In addition, when relationships between those in mediation will be on-going (such as in the case of coparenting), mediation is often the alternative dispute resolution process of choice, as it is most likely to empower participants and encourage their cooperation with each other.
